Example Journal.

Both hives
Some honey stores but not as much as I would like. Will continue to feed 50/50 sugar syrup with honey bee healthy daily.

Hive 1
Really full of bees.
Saw no sign of queen cells.
Don't think adding space at this time is a good idea.
24 hour mite count was 17 for whole board.

Hive 2
Not as many bees as hive 1 but still high numbers.
Pretty sure they swarmed earlier this year. Found an empty queen cell too.
Absolutely beautiful brood.
Prettiest bees I have ever seen. Little nuggets of gold.
24 hour mite count was 40 for whole board.  :(

Next planned action.
Fumigate both hives with oxalic acid fumigation as soon as weather permits.

Hives 1 & 2 fumigated with oxalic acid.

1/2 gram oxalic acid per hive.
Took roughly 2 minutes to boil it off.
Lesson learned...... need to have some water to cool the plate in if treating hives back to back.
Left them closed up for 20 minutes. Planned on leaving them closed up for 10 minutes but had to weedeat around them too. Will be glad when it is cool enough to leave them shut up for a few days so I can move them to their permanent hive stand.

Next planned action.
Quick hive inspection tomorrow.
Treat again in 7 days and try to make a video of it.

While I had them closed up I removed, cleaned and put more olive oil on my fireant shields.

Put sticky boards in for a second mite count to test effectiveness of treatments.

Will leave in for 3 days.
